Think about it.
Hey all, it's been a while since we've been here! I guess we're all such busy people. I think that we all get so caught up in the business of life, that we forget to sit back and think. So, that's what I'll be talking about today!
One thing that I realized this summer and beginning of my senior year of high school is the fact that time flies by like it's nothing. See, not only does this make me a little anxious to think about (since next year is college), but I also realized that I'm not making the most of it, and I wanted to change that. So, guess what I did? I self-reflected. I listed down what I needed to do and what I wanted to do, then I practically made those changes. I made a change in my lifestyle, my attitude, the way I react to things, how I eat, and much more. The little things I did or thought of doing, and making them happen, made me even more happier, productive, energetic, and much more excited for life.
Now I know that I'm only a senior in high school whose life really does only revolve around school homework, work, friends, and delicious little trinkets called food. Life after college seems so much more adult-like and there's so much to it: taxes, work, responsibility, food, fun, etc. Even though there is a lot going on in the moment, we should always reflect back on our lives as it may also improve your mental health by far. According to the article "Why You Should Make Time for Self-Reflection (Even If You Hate Doing It)" by Jennifer Porter in the Harvard Business Review, Porter stated that employees who spent st least 15 minutes at the end of the day reflecting about what they did that day, performed 23% better after 10 days than those who did not reflect. They were also more happier, more productive, and less burned out than people who didn’t self-reflect. This was fascinating to me as I never thought that a simple self-reflection of the day, could let someone perform drastically better the next few days after that. Also, not only did I just say that self-reflecting helps your mental health, science did too!! During my summer after I self-reflected a lot on what and how I've been living, I was much happier once I figured out what I didn't like so I could change it and what I was more aware of. Science said such similar things! In the previous article mentioned before, they said that if you technically reflect on yourself in any way, you'd be much, much, MUCH more happier!! Now, who wouldn't want that!?!?
To sum it up, everyone is a busy bee. Everyone works all the time and has a whole lot of events going on, but if you could just take a simple moment and think back on your life, or your day, life would be so much better.
