The Purpose

It is important to know the misconceptions about different Mental Illnesses as these misconceptions can lead to stigma, discrimination, and misunderstanding of people who are suffering from these mental health conditions. Misconceptions about mental illness can prevent individuals from seeking help and support, and can even lead to self-stigma and internalized shame.

Additionally, misconceptions about mental illness can perpetuate stereotypes and hinder progress in research, education, and advocacy. By understanding the reality of mental illness and challenging these misconceptions, we can create a more supportive and compassionate society that prioritizes the well-being of all individuals.

​

Because of the deterioration of what the common misconceptions can do to those who have mental illnesses, creating a website based on fixing and clearing up the misconceptions and noticing the actual realities of those who have these certain mental health disorders can take away the negativity that people who face these misconceptions every day.

Jaya Ande is a current student at Rock Hill High School. She aspires to be a Clinical Psychologist as she is passionate about mental illnesses and how psychologists treat them. She also believes that humans and their minds are incredibly fascinating in a way that she would love to figure out why they took certain actions.

In her free time, she loves to read books, spend time with nature, learn new things, and watch TED talks. She also loves to find ways to fill her time with friends and family that create a joyous environment for everyone.

About Dr. Sandy Davis

Dr. Sandy Davis

A little about me!

Dr.Sandy Davis is a certified Clinical Trauma Professional as well as a Master Irlen Screener, with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology. She specializes in treatments of adolescents and young adults - individuals with severe trauma. 

​

Dr.Davis graduated with her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Dallas, in August 2012, having also obtained a Master’s of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University, Dallas in 2010, and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Austin College in 2006.

​

She believes that the participation of family members, particularly when working with children and adolescents, is a key element to developing coping and growing toward healthy living. For adults, examining the underlying cause of your presenting symptoms can be a challenging and life-changing experience. She takes situations as a challenge and pursues a healthy relationship with all of her patients. ​
